HANDS-ON PRODUCTION FROM THE BEGINNING The fast-paced, creative video industry includes not only the kind of work with a camera and in an edit suite that leads to nightly sitcoms and newscasts, but also video productions for sales, marketing, advertising, education, and the music industry. New editing techniques and inventive video graphics keep the art of video production fresh and ever changing.
What you’ll study * Get involved hands-on from the first quarter while learning camera operation, lighting, linear and non-linear editing, electronic news gathering, composition and sequencing, scriptwriting, lighting, and producing both in the studio and on location. * Gain a foundation in basic color and design theory. * Advance to multi-camera production, live show production, directing, and pre- and post-production techniques, using digital video cameras, AVID, Final Cut Pro, and Pro Tools. * Learn special visual effects and video graphics using computer applications, including Adobe® After Effects and Shake, as well as business marketing skills, crew relations, and project management to help you enter into your chosen field. * Create a portfolio on DVD to show prospective employers.
Special features Students shoot both in the studio on campus and on location throughout the Atlanta area. Students create advertisements and public service announcements, which air in the Atlanta market.
Career opportunities Graduates are prepared to begin their careers with entry-level positions in television broadcasting, film, and private video production in entry-level positions such as camera operator, production assistant, editor, master control operator, and floor director.
