INNOVATION, CREATIVITY, AND TECHNICAL EXPERTISE Being a web an interactive designer requires a passion for technology, an eye for design, and the ability to make it all translate well to the intended audience. Web design & Interactive media students learn to use web and interactive delivery systems to create effective user experiences, developing usable interfaces with creativity, innovation, user focus, and technical expertise.
What you’ll study * Begin with art foundation skills in drawing and design theory. * In the associate’s degree program, you’ll progress through various aspects of graphic design, interface design, media production, information architecture, working as a team, and web technologies. * In the bachelor’s degree program, you’ll find a broader array of concepts and techniques – including history of media, non-linear narratives, creative media production, usability and accessibility, development technologies and tools, and advanced web and interactive projects – to create a positive and interactive user experience. * Create a digital portfolio to show prospective employers.
Special features Students learn to use appropriate industry-related technologies to develop interactive communication solutions that are aesthetically pleasing as well as easy to use. User-centered design is a central part of the program, which emphasizes both the underlying information architecture and the design of the interface.
Career opportunities Web design and interactive media graduates are prepared for entry-level positions in the fast-paced, high-tech web and interactive communications field and may work in almost every industry, from publishing and education to manufacturing and corporate communications. Web and interactive sites are essential tools for sales, marketing, promotion, information, entertainment, and e-commerce transactions. The associate in arts program prepares graduates for entry-level Web designer positions. The bachelor of fine arts program prepares graduates for positions that require conceptual thinking, creative problem solving, leadership, strategic planning, and the use of appropriate technology in the design of web and interactive media-based communication. |
