Open to rising high school seniors and juniors as well as May 2007 graduates who have not yet chosen a college, Studio 101 gives students an introduction to student life at The Art Institute of Charlotte and in-depth information about careers in which they have an interest. The students may chose to study Culinary Arts, Fashion Marketing, Graphic Design, Web Design & Interactive Media or Interior Design.

Students are introduced to tools, techniques and theories used by professionals in their chosen field. Instructors from The Art Institute of Charlotte are supplemented by guest speakers during daily classes, and field trips introduce students both to their chosen fields and to the Charlotte area. Each student has the opportunity to compete for scholarships through project work during Studio 101.

The cost of the four-day program is $300. Supervised housing accommodations can be provided for those who wish it at a nearby hotel. A $300 housing fee includes a room (shared by a roommate) Sunday through Wednesday nights, meals, transportation and social activities. Some rising high school sophomores may be accepted if space is available. They will be notified no later than June 4.

Information and applications for Studio 101 are available at The Art Institute of Charlotte, 1.888.241.8167.
