Carolina Salazar
Visual Arts
Carolina Salazar, class of 1991, graduated with her associate degree at Miami International University of Art & Design and continued her education at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, ultimately receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting. Carolina is currently works in the Fine Arts and Cultural Affairs Office for the Miami International Airport.
There she assists in curating and exhibiting art in the gallery as well as other exhibitions throughout the airport. Carolina also researches public art projects and chooses pieces to be showcased at the airport. Originally from Bogota, Colombia, Carolina came to Miami at an early age and grew her creative passions locally. As a professional, Carolina has advanced herself in the artistic field through her position as Exhibitions Director for Art Center South Florida for several years before moving onto her current role at Miami International Airport. As an artist, her work has been showcased throughout Florida with exhibits at various centers including the Dorsch Gallery in Miami, the Old Capital Gallery in Tallahassee, the Von Liebig Art Center in Naples and the Deland Museum of Art. Her exhibits have been reviewed extensively in local publications such as the Miami New Times, the Miami Herald and the Coral Gables Gazette documenting the success of her shows.
Carolina says that attending Miami International University of Art & Design paved the road to her success. “I had two incredible professors who I remember fondly, Adnan Razack and Mr. Yapur. They really brought out the best in every student and definitely were a source of inspiration to me.”
