Through the diploma program in Digital Design at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, students can improve existing skills or prepare for career change or promotion. The Art Institute of Pittsburgh conducts this 12-month program with classes scheduled during evening hours and, in some cases, on Saturdays. Digital Design students learn design fundamentals, typography, and various aspects of graphic design. Students create color composites and renderings and are introduced to sophisticated software as design tools. Diploma program students come from diverse backgrounds and have different individual goals - many have full-time jobs and other activities in addition to their school commitments - but they all have a common desire to grow through education. Faculty members for this diploma program are often experienced professionals who encourage the development of skills through hands-on learning. As students advance in the program, they are guided by their instructors in developing portfolios that feature professional-level work to show prospective employers. The Digital Design diploma program provides many individuals with a solid foundation for career growth. Students can complete the program in one year, and are prepared to seek entry-level positions including production or computer artist at newspapers, advertising agencies, or television stations. The Digital Design diploma program courses are fully transferable to the associate's and bachelor's Graphic Design degree program at The Art Institute for students who wish to continue their studies. Students begin with a desire to grow through education. Each successful graduate finishes with a portfolio and new skills to launch a fulfilling career. The portfolio course taken in the Digital Design diploma program will count as an elective in the Graphic Design degree program. The student will be required to take the portfolio course required at the degree level. The Digital Design program is also available online. Employers who have hired Art Institute of Pittsburgh graduates in the Digital Design industry include: Abercrombie & Fitch, Air Waves Inc., American Greetings, Blattner Brunner Inc., Brady Communications, Burson-Marsteller / Marsteller Advertising, 84 Lumber Company, Fisher-Cal Industries, Giant Eagle Corporation, Matthews International / Bronze Division, Whirl Magazine, Skyline Displays of Pittsburgh, Smith Brothers Advertising, SouthPrint / Checkered Flag Sports, and UPMC. |
