In recent years, an increasingly sophisticated viewing audience has created a growing demand for specialists in motion graphics and broadcast design. A visual effects and motion graphics designer combines a variety of skills including typography, color, layout, and design principles with audio and video technologies. The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Bachelor of Science degree program offers students the opportunity to acquire skills in a new specialization that focuses on communication arts for film, television, and the Web. By combining graphic design, filmmaking, animation, and sound, graduates of this program will be qualified to create attention-grabbing visuals that inform and entertain. An education in Visual Effects & Motion Graphics will provide students with the knowledge to use digital compositing to create layered and textural landscapes that engage both the mind and the emotions. Students will learn how to build a seamless presentation that is both visually arresting and commercially effective, through the integration of live action footage, programming clips, graphic elements and sound. Students will acquire knowledge about the stages of the production process and learn how to be part of a creative team. Start-to-finish projects enable students to learn important conceptualization and execution skills. In the final quarters of the program, students will be able to choose an area of specialization, which targets their specific career coals. Each graduate must create a portfolio reel of their best work for use with presenting themselves to prospective employers. The Bachelor of Science degree program in Visual Effects & Motion Graphics will prepare graduates to seek entry-level positions in broadcast and cable television, work on movies and in television shows, and in corporate video post-production as a visual effects artists. Employers who have hired Art Institute of Pittsburgh graduates in the Visual Effects & Motion Graphics industry include: Animal, AVP Digital Inc., New Perspective Productions, Parknavy Advertising, Five Star Development, Fox Learning Systems. |
