About Me:
I am in love with the entire realm of visual aspects that make our world a beautiful and stimulating place to be. It is with this love in mind, I approach all aspects of my life. I grew up creating, my time was spent envisioning the way things could be, and making them so. That concept has led me through my past, and motivates me through my future.
I began to develop my passion for the fashion world when I was young. I loved to dress up, and I glued fabric to make better dresses for my Barbies. I took an early interest in what others wore, and how it made me feel and perceive them. I began to experiment with fashion and find where it could take me. I found that fashion can make you feel and look like anything you want to be; find that perfect style, and you have found yourself. Over the years, I began to develop a real knowledge of branding and customers. I feel I have a talent for understanding the target market.
While attending The Art Institute of Charlotte, I have had the direction and creative license to find my place in the world of fashion. Using my love for art and design mixed with my extensive education of merchandising and marketing, I have developed a personal style. I have gained an understanding of my strengths and weaknesses from a professional standpoint. I have found that I work well both in group settings and individually. I have an exuberance for fresh and new ways of solving given fashion problems and projects, combined with a outgoing and gregarious personality. When it comes to the execution of my personal work, I take great pride in the end result; I set my standards high.
In my professional experience in the retail field, I have had the opportunity to observe and execute the move of merchandise from stock to sales floor to the consumer. While in retail, I gained a deeper appreciation for the aspects that motivate the customer to purchase, such as, visual merchandising and display. While working at Belk Store Services in the Fashion Advertising and Styling Department, I have gained knowledge of the involvements of getting that merchandise in the stores and informing customers of current trends and sales from a corporate level. I have learned about the components of fashion advertising and having the opportunity to explore both ends of the fashion retail chain has been beneficial to my education.
As a long term goal, I wish to approach, explore, and excel in the advertising and marketing world of fashion. I believe that my knowledge, determination, and curiosity will drive me to achieve my goals. I wish to utilize my knowledge of marketing and skills in visual and graphic layout in my professional experience. I can visualize working in the advertising and creative side of the fashion industry. I am also interested in brand extension and development of products from concept to distribution. To extend my skills and fuel my strengths, I wish to continue my education in graphic design and advertising. Wherever my love for art and fashion takes me, I wish to succeed and most importantly to continue finding the beauty and potential in everything.
