About Me:
I am a well-rounded interior designer with a background in visual arts and math. As you will see from my resume, I have experience working on design projects such as the modernization of a 1960s commercial building, a dentist's waiting room, student counsellors' offices at UBC and various residences.
I recently graduated from the Interior Design program at The Art Institute of Vancouver, receiving my diploma, Foundation for Design, in December 2009. In addition, I hold two degrees, including a B.A. with a major in Fine Arts and a minor in Cultural Anthropology, and a B.Ed. with a major in Fine Arts and a minor in
Mathematics. My education and experience has led me to develop a passion for design, by combining my interest in the purely aesthetic with an appreciation of different cultures and an ability to solve problems.
Over the years I have experienced the design business from various points of view, including the architectural, interior design/decorating and retail fields. My most recent experience was through a two week internship with Salikan Architects in Vancouver, where I demonstrated my leadership skills contributing to design projects by creating AutoCAD drawings, selecting materials and giving client presentations. Previously, I worked for a couple of retail and design businesses, Le Bel Arti and at Chintz & Company. There I assisted clients in choosing materials and furniture and making house calls providing interior decorating services. Finally, my mother is a successful
architect specializing in residential and small business space, so I have had exposure to the field throughout my life. I have been exposed to many design professionals who have provided me with a broad perspective on what it means to be a designer, from the initial idea to project completion.
